Blooming Boomers' Beacon, Issue #014 - Sharing
December 01, 2019
December - Spirit of Sharing
December is all about the spirit of sharing.
The merriment, laughter, generosity, gaiety, celebration and memorable moments we experience are not to be hoarded. They are for sharing with others.
There are countless creative ways we can share.
We could share our knowledge with someone looking for information. We could share our insights, thoughts and plans with friends and families.
We could share the fascinating stories of our ancestors with the next generations. Help them see what we’ve seen, hear what we’ve heard, learn what we’ve learned.
We could share our deepest concerns with politicians elected to address those issues.
We could share our resources – money, time and understanding – with those less fortunate than we are.
And we could share our empathy, our listening and our attention with those in our own lives or our communities who no longer think they matter. Those people who just want someone to care about what they have to say.
What a great gift we have at our disposal – and it won’t even break the bank. All we have to do is give ourselves to others, however we can.
May you all have a Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday. Let peace on Earth begin with you!
Ideas to explore
Ease your pain. Forgiveness is more important for the one forgiving than it is for the one being forgiven. If you want peace of mind, try it. Forgive.
Free your space. Not much is worse than being surrounded with unfinished projects and tasks. They just clutter your space and hold you back. Get complete.
Doctor's orders. Laughter is the best medicine for whatever ails you. It stimulates your vitals and makes you feel better all around. Laugh.
News you can useEngage, brain. Frequent social contact requires greater brain activity and thus diminishes the likelihood of dementia. Let’s hang out!
Stand up straight! Good posture not only helps your organs do their jobs better. It also helps you prevent falls. Mom knows best.
Clean house. When you are getting sufficient deep sleep, your brain is doing some housecleaning. It’s decluttering the accumulated detritus. Sleep well.
Free time? Put your leisure time to work. Many fun activities are also good for our health and well-being. Make the best of it. Ramp it up.
